THERE once was a frisky young flea;
Son chien lui déplut coinine abri.
Er wollt’ einen Kater,
Sed obsecrat mater:
Non lascia i parenti cosi.

But he would not listen to prayer;
Il quitta son pere et sa mere.
Er springt auf ’ne Katze,
Sed haec rasitat se;
Lo mangia, orribil a veder.

Around and about the gore flew;
Aie pitié du petit fou!
Mit lautem Geschrei:
Vae mihi, O vae,
Il povero scese in giu.

Stay at home, is the gist of my tale;
Restreigncz la force de vos ailes;
Bleib’ stille zu Haus;
Sit domui laus;
Alla casa dimora fedel.
