Going Native

DUELL, SLOAN & PEARCE
DISTINCTLY not virginibus puerisque is the wicked wit of Mr. Gogarty in Going Native. For no good reason he puts on a mask and wig, calls himself Ouseley, takes the advice of W. B. Yeats, and goes to England to study the ‘queer people’ who live there. Mr. Ouseley is quite as much in love with Mr. Ouseley as Mr. Gogarty is with Mr. Gogarty, and this book is rather more OuseleyGogarty than it is English men and women. At any rate, the highly improbable and highly immoral adventures of Mr. Ouseley-Gogarty are divertingly told, with precise epigrams leaping shamelessly from every other page. Civilized adults will enjoy, if they do not quite approve, this book.
