Two things there are, all other things above,
That are most deadly. One of them is love.
However it be brief, or quickly done,
Love is man’s mistress. And his other one,
That all men lie with and that few forget,
Is hate. Though man has reason to regret
Alike his love of women and of war;
Between the two, the horror and the whore,
There is a difference. Since if he take
His will of one of them, he will not wake.
