The Road to Pearl Harbor
. Princeton University Press, $5.00.
A probing, authoritatively documented study of the coming of war with Japan. The author, who at the time in question was an Adviser on International Economics Affairs to the State Department, is a scrupulously thorough, levelheaded, and independently-minded chronicler. Mr. Fejs is often sharply critical of U.S. diplomacy but he in no way substantiates the isolationist thesis that the country was “tricked” and misled into war.
