Janáček: Choral and Orchestral Works
Short Reviews:
(Brno State Philharmonic, Prague Symphony, Czech Philharmonic Chorus; Crossroads 22-26-0016). The repertory is largely unfamiliar and the performances only passable, with a bleaty tenor annoyingly prominent. But a good chance to hear such pieces as the Lachian Dances, the Fiddler’s Child, and Our Father, which is a large-scale, deeply impressive setting of the Lord’s Prayer almost ruined by that quavery tenor.
