Carlton Simmons, of Indianapolis, Indiana, writes: "What would be a word for the feeling you get when your computer crashes before saving an hour's worth of work?"
Not to be a Pollyanna, but could we also work on a word for the feeling you get when it crashes *after* saving the hour's worth of work?

etiolate is an existing word which has a sense of "to make pale and sickly" and when pronounced has a nice techy feel to it:
E-tE-a-lAt
taking extensive liberties, I'd suggest:
peciolate

From the Award-Winning Toronto Serial Diners Collective:
We have variously described this feeling as:
"chronosplat" (your time goes splat);
"antesave" (the thing that happens before you saved what you were working on);
"backoops" (if you don't backup, you get a backoops);
"gottaboot" (same principle);
"crash-crushed" (perhaps my favourite);
"boot-licked" (a close contender);
"nonononononononono" (accurate, if nothing else);
and (inevitably) "Windows 95".

Wheels within wheels: a phrase in search of its fugitive meaning! I hope Vidark isn't experiencing this one as "7) How humiliating!" I sympathize: It still confuses me to have to click first on "Reply" and ultimately on "Post." But this here is obviously about "6) That crashed feeling," no?
