interesting. there is a type of synonym called a metonym. how about thesauromon?
or rogeticism?

My favourite notion is that another word for a "synonym" would be a "mean-alike", just as a "look-alike" is something that looks the same. (A "homonym", right?)
Other nutty ideas: a "thesaurum"; and "alphamoebium" (suggesting the recursive nature of asking for a synonym for "synonym", which is a bit pomo, but so was the question).
