In this short documentary, the filmmaker Jenny Schweitzer profiles the singer-songwriter Nicola, a Billboard-featured artist and subway musician. Nicola has struggled in the past with reconciling her identity as a mother with her life as a performer. "I do know that the stigma attached to being a mother is real and alive," she said. "I was able to unify the elements of my life—my music and being a mom—and pull them together and make my music stronger."
This is the seventh film in a series about New York's subway musicians.
