    A noted paleontologist, ALFRED SHERWOOD ROMER, who graduated from Amherst College in 1917, is Director of the Museum of Comparative Zoology at Harvard University. A member of Phi Kappa Psi, he was head of the corporation which owned the chapter house at Amherst, and therefore the alumnus who stood most directly in the crossfire which developed between the local chapter and the national fraternity when the Amherst undergraduates pledged a Negro for membership in the fraternity.
