Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was a poet and an educator best known for works such as “Paul Revere’s Ride” and “The Song of Hiawatha.” Longfellow, among the most popular American poets of the 19th century, also translated Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy for an American audience. He was a professor at Bowdoin College and Harvard College, and he published several collections of poetry, including Voices of the Night and Tales of a Wayside Inn.
