Vulnerable

by JULIA McGRANE
MISTAKE is costly to a man
In life and limb.
Miscalculation by an inch
Can render him
Upon the instant, sightless, maimed.
For nimble mind
Endows its creatures with a strength
It ill can bind.
But faulty judgment of the heart
Admits no cure.
Hate, cancerous, will slay its host.
The end is sure.
