by Edward L. B. Terrace. Braziller, $25.00. Mr. Terrace’s text elucidates the illustrations so well that one begins to suspect one can read hieroglyphs. This is a delusion. It need not detract from the pleasure of examining the plates, which are very fine reproductions of the exquisite small paintings adorning the coffin of one Djehuty-nekht, an Egyptian official who, some 4000 years ago, hired an anonymous but superb painter.
