If anybody really wants to know about the Thug murders in India, the tale is all here—how the cult operated and how it was finally destroyed—supported by much quotation from old police reports, unusual because the authorities took an almost anthropological interest in the way Thugs thought about their activities. A certain grisly monotony is not the fault of Mr. Bruce, who has been very thorough and presents his material briskly.
