The Marmalade Cat

by VIRGINIA E. DUNBAR
THE marmalade cat
has a tail like a plume,
he’s fluffy and fat:
has a paw like a petal
bald as a hand
and pricked with nettle.
With a tongue of Braille
he scrapes his back
he combs his tail
on a box in the sun;
and his hind leg goes
up like a gun.
